Our Makeover school has now trained over 400 Image Consultants. 75% of those having their certification actually practice as Image Consultants in France, Portugal, Switzerland, Belgium, Canada, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Russia, Hungary and the United Arab Emirates…

We see that 73% of the students certified by IDRI are active as Image Consultant:
• As independents
• As business managers
• As employee of their initial company
• As employee in perfume and clothing companies or in beauty salons.

The IDRI certified Image Consultants are working in agencies or at private addresses.

IDRI’s Image Consultants professional missions:

• Company audits
• Image Consulting for companies, S.M.E.
• Getting back in the work force (ANPE, ASSEDIC (French employment agencies)...)
• Consulting in ready-to-wear boutiques, in fashion or high-end boutiques
• Beauty counselling in cosmetology salons
• Media: press and television
• Show business and animation
• Hospital clinics
• Well-being salons
• Fitness centers and spas.

• ONE DOESN’T JUST BECOME AN IMAGE CONSULTANT !

Results of the national survey carried out in 2008 by RICI (International Image Coach Network), and supported by the AFIPP (French Personal and Professional Image Association), the IDRI and Academia Looking schools.
The image Consultant supports its clients, individuals or professionals in their endeavours to enhance their image. Opposite to a Makeover, Image Consulting brings its clients to pursue the activity autonomously.
Targeted to over 200 Image consultants practicing in France between December 2008 and February 2009, the survey’s goal was to define precisely the extent of the practice of this new profession.
Thanks to RICI and its partners’ involvement, the participation level (39%) in this survey allows us to identify various Image Consultants’ profiles.
Image Consultant is a profession in its own right, since 95% of the people interviewed have taken the training before starting to work in the field.
Within this 95%, more than half of them have taken the IDRI (Institut de Relooking International) training; the only school recognized by the National Education Ministry.
The Image Consultant profession can be practiced anywhere in France:
° 30% of the people interviewed work in Île de France
° 30% in the South-East region
° les 40% the others in the Center, East, West and South-West regions
More than half work as independents. On their own but not alone, since the consultants work in partnerships with other professionals whose expertise complements theirs.
Image Consulting is a rich and diversified profession which touches anyone wishing to enhance their confidence and credibility. The Consultant can work with people as different as salespersons, welcome hostesses, company directors; event agencies but also disabled persons or seniors.

One doesn’t just become an Image Consultant! It requires a lot of empathy, great listening skills and an ability to promote change. Beyond receiving a sound training, self-improvement must remain a priority throughout the Image Consultant’s professional career.
This survey is the first one ever done in France. RICI, pleased with the results of the 2008 survey, plans to do one every year.
This national survey is the starting point to the development of a deontology charter, thus stipulating the basics of the profession’s code of ethics.
RICI, supported by the AFIPP, is therefore involved in the professionalization of the trade and its recognition by the public at large.
